New Forest Marathon
Sunday 27th September 2009

Above: Ann Stuart collects her prize mug at the New Forest Marathon.
Leaving the cold and wet of the Loch Ness Marathon behind her this year Ann Stuart headed south to the New Forest and completed the 26.2 mile undulating partly off-road course in 3 hours 29 minutes and secured 2nd over 45 female as well as 63rd place overall. The first over 45 female finished in a very quick 2 hours 57 minutes so Ann has some work to do over the next year!
The event attracted a large field for the half marathon but only 514 runners finished the full course although many may have dropped out due to the unseasonably warm weather as, by 11 o'clock it was 21 degrees in the sunshine.
As marathon routes go this must be one of the most picturesque around and whilst it can't be considered a 'P.B. course' it certainly makes up for this with beautiful scenery.
