In the field Julie Wakelam was able to concentrate on the high jump to take first place.  With failures from the remaining competitors at her winning height the judges raised the bar to enable Wakelam to claim a new record.  There was a win also for Gerner in the long jump while Rita Brownlie sealed an excellent series of field performances with a record distance in the javelin.

As darkness closed in on the Abbey stadium Scoltock lead the 4 x 400m relay team off to a first lap lead. Collins stretched the lead to well over 50 metres but Phil Anderson was caught and passed by the Worcester 3rd leg runner on the home straight. Anchorman Mole, to the delight of the home supporters, reclainm the lead early on the first bend and was able to hold off a strong finish from the Worcester competitor in the home straight to claim victory.

Al Daftary made a blistering start to take the lead in the first leg of the women’s relay to enable Prinzing, Hepke and Anderson to enjoy running in front to claim a comfortable victory in their race.

The final score cards showed a win for the women’s team while the men, continuing to improve under the guidance of Al Daftary, finished as runners up to Worcester. B and R were also placed first on combined scores.

At the half way stage of the season the women top the table with a two point advantage over defending champions Birchfield. The men’s table has Worcester in the lead with B & R joint second alongside Birchfield.
