West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League
Perry Barr, Birmingham
Sunday 1st March 2009

This final league fixture was hosted by Birchfield Harriers at Perry Barr. The course was generally dry and flattish except for the uphill slope near the finish. What a contract from the mud and water of Nuneaton! Based on total points from all five fixtures, B&R finished tenth out of twenty clubs. Particular mention goes to Chris Warren and Sean Bowden. Seventeenth place on the day was enough to see Chris finish sixth in the Under 15 Boys overall individual results. Sean finished fifth at Perry Barr to clinch overall 4 th place in the Under 17 Mens rankings, As one of the top four in the league, Sean has been invited to represent the West Midlands in the young athletes races held in conjunction with the London Marathon. Congratulations to all the B&R athletes on their efforts throughout the cross country season and good luck to Sean in London. Thanks to Calvin and Rita for managing the boys and girls team and to all the parents and coaches who turned up to support. Thanks to the volunteers from B&R who marshalled the finishing tunnel at the last race.
