Halesowen Aquathon 2009

There was a perfect start to the season for B&R member Helen Russell, as she fought off other competitors to win the 2009 Halesowen Aquathon last weekend (Sunday 1st March).  The aquathon was a sprint distance covering a 400 meter indoor pool swim and 5km run.  The event started at the Halesowen Leisure Centre and the run was an out and back route which saw athletes leave the town centre to tackle the undulating off-road terrain.

Helen posted the fastest female swim time of the day and increased her lead in the run to post an overall winning time of 30.34.

B&R's Phil Woodyatt also took part and was solid in both events recording a time of 33.09.
