Bourton 10km
Sunday 22nd February 2009
The course for this 10 km road race in the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water lived up to its reputation for fast time. The route consisted of two ‘pan-flat’ 2-laps of the village followed by an out and back with final 1 ¾ laps of village. The runners were helped by there being perfect racing conditions, circa 9˚C, with a slight headwind on the return.
The first man home was Kevin Skinner from Newham & Essex Beagles in a terrific time of 29.50. There was an equally impressive performance from the winner of the strong women's race Alyson Dixon from Chester-Le-Street who blitzed the course in 32.32
This race is always a sell out and there was a strong contingent from our club who headed south in search of good times. Paul Collins was a late entry benefiting from the transfer of the injured Alan Elsmere's number and clocked his best time for years to be our first finisher and 4th male veteran 40.
