Luke Evans breaks the club U17 record over 400m indoors

Luke has made a promising start in his first season as an under 17 athlete whilst competing in several indoor events at the NIA. 

At 400m he bettered his outdoor PB of 53.9 seconds by nearly a full second in setting a time of 52.97s at an open meeting on 12th February.  Then in the Midlands Indoor Championships on 11th March he qualified for the final with a superb time of 51.89s, a new club record, which incidentally beats the U17 outdoor mark too.  Unfortunately, he couldn't quite match this time in the final.  Leading for the first 300m he tied up in the final part of the race to finish an agonising 4th in 52.52.

Several outings at 200m were highlighted by winning the inter-counties indoor schools race in a time of 23.82 seconds.  This time was bettered at the National Indoor AAA's meeting, a time of 23.50 securing a place in the semi-finals of the event.
