14-8-10 B&R men won the Team Prize & three individual age categories in the Worcestershire MT Championships in the Stourbridge Stumble Results

8-8-10 Good runs in the Halesowen MT 8k saw B&R's Mel Hepke retain her FV35 title and Paul Atkins finish 2nd MV40 in the Worcestershire Midweek League. Results. Overall league results.

1-8-10 B&R won the last fixture in Midland League at Solihull (women 1st & men 3rd) to gain promotion from Div. 4. Three new club records were set: James Hart upped his own senior men's High Jump record to 1.95 metres and Ben Hembry (M35) did similar with a throw of 35.59 metres in the Discus. 7-7-10 B&R women were 1st and the men 2nd in the Vets league at the Dell Stadium. There were 7 new club records:  Yasmine Al Daftary (W35) 18.15m, Julie Wakelam (W50)  22.12m&  Betty O'Gorman (W55) 20.25m all in the hammer,  Elizabeth Cook (W35) in her first Vets outing 400 metres  72.3,  Rob Mole (M35)  400 metres  60.4,  Clive Brown (M60) pole vault 1.52m and the quartet of Mole, Anderson, Rawlins and Scoltock M35 Medley relay (2x200, 1x400, 1x800 metres) record to 4.21.4. 4-7-10 Two new club records were set at the Masters National championships at Cardiff: Mike Jones M70 Shot 10.42 m &  Julie Wakelam W50 Javelin 22.60 m.

4-7-10 Don't have a cow man! Pete Hawcroft is 2nd M60-65 in the Cowman Triathlon finishing with  a 1hour 42 half marathon! Report

3-7-10 B&R had a successful day at Stafford winning their Midland Men’s and Women’s T&F League fixture and setting six new club records: Elizabeth Tomlinson U20W 200 metres  26.7, Jo Frost Sen. W Long Jump 5.67 metres, Mel Hepke W35 pole  2.00 metres, Kerrie Perks U17W 100 metres hurdles 19.7 and in the Senior Hammer Christina Clarke in her first competition for the club erased Jo Sutton’s record from 1997 with a fine throw of 26.23 metres. The Men's 4x100 metres quartet of Aspley-Davies, Hart, Russell & Suzuki equalled the record with a time of 44.6.

30-10-10 The first Birmingham League XC fixture will be at Leamington Spa for all divisions

20-6-10 Our young athletes beat Oswestry and Tamworth in a close Young Athletes League fixture at Burton and top the table with the last match on Sun.18th July. Results Table

What a month for new club records!  Dave Brearley U20M 3000m Steeplechase 9.35.1 from way back in 1964 that we think at the time placed him top of the junior rankings in the country.  Midland T&F League at Banbury on 6-6-10: U20 women’s 200m Elizabeth Tomlinson 26.8, women’s long jump Jo Frost 5.50m, M35 Discus Ben Hembry  33.33m. Vets League at Redditch on 3-6-10: Women  W55 2k Walk Betty O'Gorman 15.20.8, Men  M60 Triple Jump  Clive Brown  7.80 metres. Malvern Half Marathon 6-6-10 Women  W60 Yvonne Priestman  1.59.39.

8-5-10 B&R athletes competed in the Worcestershire Track & Field Championships at Nunnery Wood in Worcester. Pete Mould set new club M55 100m (12.8) & 200m (26.4) records Report

A reminder that the Timberhonger 10 km and Children's Challenge take place on Sunday 11th July. Mark Graham says entries are pouring in and there are already 80 to 90 for the 10km. Try and support this local event assisted by B&R. Click for Timberhonger 10km website.

5-5-10 Roger Beacham set a club Male Vet 70 record when he ran the Dudley Kingswinford 10k road race in 52.31 (52.23 chip time). Click for results. 

15-5-10 The Club Skittles Evening is on Saturday 15th May starting at 7 pm at HDA Sports Club, Cherry Tree Walk, Batchley, Redditch B97 6PB. Tickets are £6 per person and are available from James Bowler, Gavin Moorhead or Len Quartly. All ages, family and friends welcome. Come along and have a great evening and help raise funds for the Hilly 100 and Castles Relays.

Friday 12-3-10 Well done to new social secretaries James Bowler & Gavin Moorhead on the success of their first event, a Club Quiz Night at Redditch Cricket Club. Over 90 people attended and 16 teams tested their general knowledge. The Waseley Six (Dave Whipp seen celebrating above, Kirsten & Mark Walton, Scott Smith, Jane, Phil & Lewis Anderson) triumphed with the UFAs 2nd and Kings of Lycra 3rd.
