Sort through a treasure trove of memories in the this Gallery of Rita Brownlie's scrapbook featuring newspaper cuttings of B&R AC and her own athletic career - mainly from the 60s (from the opening of the Abbey Stadium) but also the 70s and 80s.
Jump in to the Bromsgrove & Redditch AC time machine and travel back to Bromsgrove in the mid 1980's in "Our Town Bromsgrove Part 3" found on Youtube by James Childs. 16-2-14 Len Quartly heads to the far east for the Hong Kong marathon - having finished the race, did he feel like another one two hours later? Report
The 2014 Droitwich Half Marathon was due to be held on 2nd March but parts of the course are flooded and more rain is forecast. The event has been cancelled and will now be run on Sunday 2nd November.
9-2-14 B&R athletes competed in the final fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes League at Perry Park. Team highlights were 3rd and 5th places on the day by our Under 13 Girls and U15 Boys teams. Conor Smith (above) ran another terrific race finishing 2nd and clinching the U15 Boys league title. 8-2-13 Twelve B&R runners competed at Coundon Hall Park in Coventry in the final fixture of the Birmingham Cross Country League. The A team finished 9th and our first finisher Joe Smith achieved his best position of the four races (11th). Report
1-2-14 B&R competed in the final Gloucester Cross Country League fixture at plock Court. Our women were first senior team on the day and were 2nd senior and 3rd veterans team overall. Overall individual league award winners were Sally Hogan (3rd U20), Mel Hepke (3rd V40), Charlotte Ball (3rd V50) and senior women gold medallist Tamara Ball. Report and Photos by David Ball
25-1-14 The ditch, the hill, mud, thunder, lightning, rain, hail and even sunshine - the Midlands Cross Country Championships at Leamington's Newbold Comyn had it all. B&R will be competing in the Midlands Veterans Track & Field League Southern Division. Our men will be trying to break the dominance of Worcester and our women will be trying to reclaim the title they last won on 2012. The first event is at Stourport on 1st May. The four races in the Worcestershire Midweek Series have been added to Fixtures . The first event is a multi-terrain race at Hagley on Wed. 14th May. B&R host the 2nd race at Arrow Valley in June. Can we improve our turnout? There's lots of age category prizes up for grabs.
29-1-14 There will be a workshop on Ankle & Leg Mobility by Darren Fowler, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Birmingham University Sports Centre. Coaches & athletes are welcome. Note that this will be at the Stourport Sports Club not the University. Click for details
19-1-14 Our young athletes competed in the 4th fixture of the West Midlands YA Cross Country League at Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton. Highlights were 4th place for our U13 Girls team just 3 points behind 3rd placed Tipton Harriers with Amy Mijovic-Cauldwell 5th; a terrific 3rd place by Conor Smith in the U15 Boys race to keep up his challenge for an individual medal and a top 10 finish by U17 woman Katie Plummer. 19-1-14 B&R runners took part in the popular Not The Roman IX Road Race and Pete Hawcroft was 1st in his age category. Report
The date for the 2014 Midlands Men's 12 Stage and Women's 6 Stage Road Relays at Sutton Park has been changed from Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th March.
11-4-13 Our senior women competed in the Midlands Womens Cross Country at Droitwich (supported by David, Sue & Tony above) and our men were in action in the Birmingham League at Coventry. Report

8-12-13 Our youngsters finished 10th overall out of 19 teams at Halesowen in the 3rd fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League. Well done to all our athletes who competed over the very hilly course with the mud trap at the end of the lap. Highlights were 2nd place for Conor Smith in the U15 Boys race , Amy Mijovic-Cauldwell 6th U13 Girl, Katie Plummer 7th U17 Women and 3rd place for our U13 Girls team. Report

The provisional date for the 2014 Hilly 100 Relay is Sunday 18th May. There are 10 legs of about 10 miles each through the Cotswolds with the overall start and finish in Stratford on Avon.
17-11-13 Our athletes were in action in the 2nd fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League at Aldersley in Wolverhampton. Highlights were an individual 4th place for Conor Smith in the Under 15 Boys race and 5th places for our U13 Girls and U15 Boys teams. The club finished 10th out of 19 clubs overall. The venue for the 2014 Worcestershire County Cross Country Championships on Saturday 4th January has been announced as Halesowen.
20-10-13 About 20,000 runners tackled BUPA Great Birmingham Run and 37 B&R athletes completed this big city half marathon. 13-10-13 Only our Under 13 Girls competed at the National Young Athletes Road Relays at Sutton Park but the two teams ran well in teh rain to finish 27th and 37th. Report

6-10-13 The first fixture in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League took place at Hatton and B&R team performance of the day was by our U13 girls (above) who finished 5th. Report
5-10-13 No mud but it's the start of the Gloucester Cross Country League. Our women's team got off to a flyer to finish 4th out of 29 teams in the open competition. We also fielded a strong squad of 18 runners in the men's race. Report and Photos

14-9-13 Great results for Candy Lockett and Harry Onions (above) at the Liverpool Autumn Throws and Jumps Open Meeting. Harry took Silver in the U17 Boys shot and Candy gold in the U15 Girls Triple Jump & set a new PB in the Discus (25.95m). Results

31-8-13 Candy Lockett (above) set a new club record 39.92 in the U15 Girls Hammer at the England Athletics U15/U17 Championships Bedford.
22-9-13 Congratulations to all the runners who completed the tough Waseley Wobbler and thanks to all the marshal & helpers at today’s race. B&R’s Matt Hawcroft (50:31) won the multi-terrain race for the 3rd time in 4 years with Tom Lowe (Bristol & West AC) 2nd (with 8:30:17 one of the best UK Ironmen ran the race as part of a long training run) and Sam Chatwin (Bournville Harriers) 3rd. Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington (BRAT) was the winning woman in 59:26. Eloise Lee(BRAT) (63:04) and Annie Vernon (unattached) (67:31) were the next two women home. Annie won a silver medal for Britain in the Quad Sculls (rowing) at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and gold in the world championships in 2007 & 2010 and a silver in 2009. There were 128 tired pairs of legs at the finish after 8 miles over the Waseley and Lickey Hills (the race was shorthened by half a mile to avoid cattle) but there was a great atmosphere. 19-9-13 Sad news has reached us from France that Bromsgove & Redditch AC stalwart Tony Gaize died this week. Tony was a club member for many years, was an important member of the men’s teams, coached and had been club chairman. Tony will be remembered as a determined runner and a great servant to the club.
The Bromsgrove & Redditch AC 2013 Annual General Meeting will be held at the Aston Fields Social Club, Stoke Road, Bromsgrove B60 3EG on Friday 25th October at 7 p.m. CLICK HERE for notice and information on proposing items for the agenda.
The 2013 B&R AC Awards Night will be on Saturday 23rd November at South Redditch Social Club, Greenlands, Redditch.

14-9-13 Martin Aspley-Davis (above) won the M35 400m Hurdles in the BMAF Championships in Birmingham. Report
11-9-13 Jessica Bennett set a club U15 300m record 44.7 at the Heart of England League in Worcester on 31st August 2013. She further improved the record to 44.32 in a race at Oxford City on Wednesday 11th September.

1-9-13 Martin Aspley-Davis set a new club V35 record 52.78 & season’s best for the 400m flat and ran 61.8 for the 400m hurdles at the Yate & District AC Sprint & Hurdle Challenge. The previous Sunday (25-8-13) at the Stoke AC Open Meeting he had run a new P.B. 20.2 for 110 hurdles to win V35 gold and set a new B&R V35 record. He also won V35 gold in the 400m hurdles (61.5) and silver in the 800m in a season’s best 2.19.7.

10-8-13 B&R's combined senior men's & women's team (above) finished 5th in the final Midlands T&F League Division 2 fixture at Gloucester. After several years of climbing up the divisions, we slipped back to Div. 3 but the squad will be fighting for promotion next year. Results & Photos
Thanks to Jo Frost (above) for all her hard work as she stepped down as women's senior T&F team manager. A presentation was made at Gloucester in recognition of her efforts.
7-8-13 The 2013 Worcestershire Midweek Series finished with the new Clent 8k Multi-Terrain Race over a tough hilly course. B&R's Charlotte Cole was 1st senior woman & Vince Rollason 1st M60. 4-8-13 Pete Hawcroft completed the gruelling Bolton Ironman distance Triathlon in 13 hours and 55 minutes to be 5th in his age group. Report
