8-12-13 Our youngsters finished 10th overall out of 19 teams at Halesowen in the 3rd fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League. Well done to all our athletes who competed over the very hilly course with the mud trap at the end of the lap. Highlights were 2nd place for Conor Smith in the U15 Boys race , Amy Mijovic-Cauldwell 6th U13 Girl, Katie Plummer 7th U17 Women and 3rd place for our U13 Girls team. The 3rd fixture in the Gloucester Cross Country League is at Malvern Common on Sat. 14th Dec. Parking and registration is at Malvern College Sports Centre. Click here for the Gloucs. 8-12-13 B&R men completed A and B teams at Burbage Common in the 2nd Birmingham Cross Country League fixture. Rich Lomas & Joe Smith led the A team home. Calum Smith impressed as 6th scorer for the A's in his first senior league race. Results to follow. Photos

The provisional date for the 2014 Hilly 100 Relay is Sunday 18th May. There are 10 legs of about 10 miles each through the Cotswolds with the overall start and finish in Stratford on Avon.
17-11-13 Our athletes were in action in the 2nd fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League at Aldersley in Wolverhampton. Highlights were an individual 4th place for Conor Smith in the Under 15 Boys race and 5th places for our U13 Girls and U15 Boys teams. The club finished 10th out of 19 clubs overall. 20-10-13 About 20,000 runners tackled BUPA Great Birmingham Run and 37 B&R athletes completed this big city half marathon. 13-10-13 Only our Under 13 Girls competed at the National Young Athletes Road Relays at Sutton Park but the two teams ran well in teh rain to finish 27th and 37th. Report

6-10-13 The first fixture in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League took place at Hatton and B&R team performance of the day was by our U13 girls (above) who finished 5th. Report
5-10-13 No mud but it's the start of the Gloucester Cross Country League. Our women's team got off to a flyer to finish 4th out of 29 teams in the open competition. We also fielded a strong squad of 18 runners in the men's race. Report and Photos

14-9-13 Great results for Candy Lockett and Harry Onions (above) at the Liverpool Autumn Throws and Jumps Open Meeting. Harry took Silver in the U17 Boys shot and Candy gold in the U15 Girls Triple Jump & set a new PB in the Discus (25.95m). Results

31-8-13 Candy Lockett (above) set a new club record 39.92 in the U15 Girls Hammer at the England Athletics U15/U17 Championships Bedford.
22-9-13 Congratulations to all the runners who completed the tough Waseley Wobbler and thanks to all the marshal & helpers at today’s race. B&R’s Matt Hawcroft (50:31) won the multi-terrain race for the 3rd time in 4 years with Tom Lowe (Bristol & West AC) 2nd (with 8:30:17 one of the best UK Ironmen ran the race as part of a long training run) and Sam Chatwin (Bournville Harriers) 3rd. Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington (BRAT) was the winning woman in 59:26. Eloise Lee(BRAT) (63:04) and Annie Vernon (unattached) (67:31) were the next two women home. Annie won a silver medal for Britain in the Quad Sculls (rowing) at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and gold in the world championships in 2007 & 2010 and a silver in 2009. There were 128 tired pairs of legs at the finish after 8 miles over the Waseley and Lickey Hills (the race was shorthened by half a mile to avoid cattle) but there was a great atmosphere. 19-9-13 Sad news has reached us from France that Bromsgove & Redditch AC stalwart Tony Gaize died this week. Tony was a club member for many years, was an important member of the men’s teams, coached and had been club chairman. Tony will be remembered as a determined runner and a great servant to the club.
The Bromsgrove & Redditch AC 2013 Annual General Meeting will be held at the Aston Fields Social Club, Stoke Road, Bromsgrove B60 3EG on Friday 25th October at 7 p.m. CLICK HERE for notice and information on proposing items for the agenda.

14-9-13 Martin Aspley-Davis (above) won the M35 400m Hurdles in the BMAF Championships in Birmingham. Report
11-9-13 Jessica Bennett set a club U15 300m record 44.7 at the Heart of England League in Worcester on 31st August 2013. She further improved the record to 44.32 in a race at Oxford City on Wednesday 11th September.

1-9-13 Martin Aspley-Davis set a new club V35 record 52.78 & season’s best for the 400m flat and ran 61.8 for the 400m hurdles at the Yate & District AC Sprint & Hurdle Challenge. The previous Sunday (25-8-13) at the Stoke AC Open Meeting he had run a new P.B. 20.2 for 110 hurdles to win V35 gold and set a new B&R V35 record. He also won V35 gold in the 400m hurdles (61.5) and silver in the 800m in a season’s best 2.19.7.

10-8-13 B&R's combined senior men's & women's team (above) finished 5th in the final Midlands T&F League Division 2 fixture at Gloucester. After several years of climbing up the divisions, we slipped back to Div. 3 but the squad will be fighting for promotion next year. Results & Photos
Thanks to Jo Frost (above) for all her hard work as she stepped down as women's senior T&F team manager. A presentation was made at Gloucester in recognition of her efforts.
7-8-13 The 2013 Worcestershire Midweek Series finished with the new Clent 8k Multi-Terrain Race over a tough hilly course. B&R's Charlotte Cole was 1st senior woman & Vince Rollason 1st M60. In the series, Mel Hepke was 1st F40, Ashley Ross 6th in the men's open category, Carl Hatton 3rd M40 and Clive Dent 3rd M45. Clent Results and Overall Series Results
4-8-13 Pete Hawcroft completed the gruelling Bolton Ironman distance Triathlon in 13 hours and 55 minutes to be 5th in his age group. Report

Other record performances in the vet league at Worcester were Jo Frost W35 200m & LJ, Len Quartly M70 200m, Rita Brownlie added 4cm to her W65 shot put record from last year, Mel Hepke F40 pole vault 2.00m. 1-8-13 B&R put a strong squad out for the last fixture in the Midland Vets League Southern Division match at Worcester. We're waiting for the results to be verified but we think our men's team won on the night and our women finished 2nd. That would see both teams finish runners up in the league and the club qualigy for the A League Cup Final on Sunday 1st September at Nuneaton. 28-7-13 A small squad of B&R athletes made the long journey to Newport in south Wales for the last fixture in the Upper Age Group competition of the Youth Development League. Results
About 50 people attended the club's family Social Event at the Dodford Inn on Saturday 20th July. The barbecue and bar did good business and a few hardy souls even pitched tents for the night. The kids enjoyed two bouncy castles although one castle was highjacked by the older crowd late on.
15-6-13 Congratulations to Dewi Hammond who set a P.B. and a new club U20M record of 10.49 to finish 5th in the 100m final at the England Athletics U20 Championships & European Trials in Bedford. This followed times of 10.67 for 3rd place in his semi-final and a then P.B. of 10.52 when finishing second in his heat.
12-7-13 New club records announced. At the vets league meeting at Brierley Hill on the 26th June: M75 400m David Carney 89.0, M70 2000 m Walk Len Quartly 12.10.8, W55 Long Jump Polly Gerner increased her own record to 3.61 m. At the Eastern Vet Championships held at Sandy on the 29th June: M75 800 m David Carney 3.25.9. At Birmingham University on the 26th June U15G Hammer Candy Lockett increased her own record to 36.56 m. At the English Schools Championships held at the Alexander Stadium on 5&6th July: U20W 400 m Isabel Billau reduced her own record to 57.03 in the semi final to qualify for the final where she finished 7th in 57.25 which would have also beaten her old record. 10-7-13 Twenty B&R runners (for some reason Paul Atkins is shown as DNS in the results but he definitely ran as he ran away from me at 9k - Phil) competed in the Droitwich 10k Road Race, the 3rd race in the Worcestershire Summer Midweek Series. Our younger runners had a particularly good noght with Joe Smith 7th in 36.02, Simon Lanckham 12th and Ashley Ross 13th. Results
7-7-13 B&R's combined men's and women's team finished 5th in the 3rd fixture of the Midland Track & Field League Division 2 at the Northwood Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent. The event was rounded off with a terrific B&R win in the men's 4 x 400m relay. Results
29-6-13 There was a big turn out for the Timberhonger 10k Road Race. 8th placed Matt Meakin was the fastest B&R man in 36.36. B&R's Helen Russell ran 40.37 to be second woman. 10k Results. 26-6-13 Our women finished 2nd just 3 points behind Worcester AC and the men although missing athletes through injury were 3rd in the Midland Vets League fixture at the Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill. Men's Results. Women's Results. These are provisional results - N.B. Dave Carney not Clive Dent was the guest in the M60 400m. The last fixture is at Worcester on 1st August and we hope to make the A Cup Final on 1st September.

New club records: 26th June Beth Llloyd set U13G 600m 1.49.07 at the BRAT Open Meeting at Birmingham University breaking Sarah Potter's record of 1.55.5 from 1998. 9th June Dave Carney at Midlands Vets Championships at Nuneaton set M75 records at 200m 39.3, 800m 3.28.7, 1500m 7.41.0. Polly Gerner increased her own W55 record to 3.56m.
16-6-13 B&R came 3rd overall at Coventry in the second Heart of England League fixture. The Boys were 2nd and the Girls 5th. The U13 Boys won their event and lead their league. There were lots of season best and personal bests and, subject to confirmation, some club records. B&R are now 3rd just 1 point behind Leicester going in to the last fixture on Saturday 31st August at Worcester. Results
12-6-13 Well done Ian Keyte for organising the Arrow Valley Multi-Terrain Race and to all the volunteers who helped at the event. B&R's first runner was 10th placed Ashley Ross. Results. 8 & 9-6-13 A mixed B&R team covered about 200 miles in 23 hours 22 minutes and 26 seconds to finish 19th team and 15th in the open competition at the Welsh Castles Relay. Results
9-6-13 The senior squad for the second match in Midlands Track & Field League Division 2 was weakened by injuries and unavailability. The men's team finished 5th and the women 6th to finish 6th overall in a tough competition at the University of Birmingham. Results

18-5-13 Our senior athletes faced a tough challenge at Yate in their first match in Division 2 of the Midlands Track & Field League.The squad dug deep to finish 4th out of 6 teams (the women were 3rd and the men 5th). Results
15-5-13 There was a record 180 finishers in the Hagley Multi-Terrian 10k which is the first event in the Worcestershire Summer Midweek Race Series. Who has run the most Birmingham League Cross Country Races for B&R AC? There has been loads of discussion on the League website about appearances by runners from all the clubs. As of 18/3/13 the record was 132 by Cavin Woodward of Leamington, one ahead of Halesowen's Andy Nock and Mick Edwards of Sparkhill Harriers. Ian Keyte has raced 77 times in the League for B&R, debuting on 1st November 1975 (his first 7 races were as a youth). He has appeared 29 times in Div. 1, 41 in Div. 2 and 7 in Div. 3.He reckons this is worth a few days running round wet, muddy fields. Is this a B&R record? Let us know if you have done more! 4-5-13 Our Under 15 and 13 athletes made a strong start to in the Youth Development League Midland Division 2 West b, finishing third out of 8 clubs in the first match at Nunnery Wood in Worcester. Results
2-5-13 B&R's men finished 2nd and our women were 3rd in the opening match of the Midland Veterans Track & Field League South Division at Nunnery Wood in Worcester. Results There was a host of new club records: Pete Mould in his first year as a M60 took almost 3 seconds off the old M60 100m record reducing it from 16.0 to 13.4. Pete now has the M40, M45, M50 M55 and M60 100m club records. Len Quartly improved his own M70 2k walk record by 11 seconds to 12:15.1. The men's relay team of Scoltock, Hartshone (Dean in his first vets league appearance), Freeman and Apley-Davis lowered last year’s 2 x 200m M35 club record to 1:48.3. Ann Stuart returned to the track and set a new W50 1500m club record of 6:24.7.
28-4-13 B&R's U17 and U20 athletes opened their campaign in the new Youth Development League Upper Age Group Competition at Hereford. They finished 4th out of 8 teams just 1.5 points behind 3rd placed Maldwyn Harriers and ahead of the combined North Worcestershire team. Our U17W 4x100m team are shown above. 26-4-13 B&R’s Helen Russell was 2nd woman in the Wolverhampton & Bilston AC-organised Fordhouse 5k on roads and canal towpaths around Pendeford. She ran 19.23 but was pipped by just 3 seconds by the first woman from Birchfield Harriers.
21-4-13 B&R youngsters got ready for the Track & Field Leagues by competing at the Birchfield Open and Josh Pearson win the 100 and 200m double. Report
